Designed for intensive care providers with patients in respiratory and cardiac failure, this course will be led by experts from high-volume extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) centers and consists of a mix of lectures and high-fidelity workshops. Topics will include patient selection, ICU management of the patient, and basic troubleshooting of the ECMO circuit. More specifically, the course will focus primarily on venovenous (VV) ECMO for severe respiratory failure. The content will also include an introduction to veno-arterial (VA) ECMO for refractory cardiac failure, cardiopulmonary failure, extracorporeal CPR (eCPR), and guidance for starting and maintaining new ECMO programs.
